Prof. Sergios Theodoridis is a graduate of the Physics department of the University of Athens, and holds an MSc and a PhD from the Dept. of Electronics and Electrical Eng., University of Birmingham, U.K.
He is a Honorary Professor in Data Processing and Machine Learning in the National and Kapodestrian University of Athens. He has served as a distinguished professor in the Aalborg University of Denmark (2020-2023), and a visiting professor in the Big Data Institute of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen of China (2018-2020). He is a member of the University Council of the National Technical University.
He has been honored with the Norbert Wiener Award, the highest distinction of the Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineering (IEEE) Signal Processing Society (SPS), 2021; with the Athanasios Papoulis Award of the European Association for Signal and Image Processing (EURASIP), 2017; with the Carl Friedrich Gauss Education Award of the IEEE SPS, 2014; and with the Meritorious Service Award of the EURASIP, 2014.
He is a corresponding member of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, a EURASIP Fellow and an IEEE Life Fellow.
