Human capital support and development policy

The M.Sc. in Computer Science aspires to provide the appropriate intellectual, social and physical environment in which research, academia and learning can flourish and all students and staff can make the most of their potential. In this context, the M.Sc. in Computer Science aims to continuously support, train and develop the skills of its staff and to create the necessary conditions for the emergence of new researchers and responsible citizens, in accordance with the Internal Regulations of the University of the Peloponnese (decision 1 of the 148th meeting of the Senate of the University of the Peloponnese, Government Gazette 1563Β’/9 May 2019, https://www.uop.gr/images/300719-esoterikos.pdf).

It is acknowledged that the success of the M.Sc. in Computer Science depends on all staff, regardless of their role, and on the staff's possession of the relevant skills, knowledge and abilities. The M.Sc. in Computer Science acknowledges that its staff are fundamental to its success. The formulation and implementation of an appropriate strategy for staff development helps the University to attract and retain high-level staff, with the skills and abilities required to achieve its goals.

The M.Sc. in Computer Science recognizes that as a cell of an Institution in which education is at the core of its activities, it has a particular responsibility to support and encourage the development of its staff, and recognizes that staff development can play a crucial role in the development and integration of the capabilities of its staff potential.

More specifically, the M.Sc. in Computer Science seeks to support all its staff in order to utilize their personal and professional potential, and therefore achieve their goals at the highest possible level. The M.Sc. in Computer Science aims to support all its members, at any stage of their career, in the successful fulfillment of their role and responsibilities as members of staff. The M.Sc. in Computer Science encourages its members to achieve high performance, supporting the exploitation of their potential.

In particular, the M.Sc. in Computer Science aims to support the academic careers of members of staff and in particular the younger ones by helping them to:

  • Identify a professional development plan, with appropriate guidance from experienced academic colleagues (Advisor/mentor), that will allow them to become fully effective in their roles as quickly as possible, thus allowing them to undertake the full range of academic tasks that interest them.
  • They receive regular feedback on their performance and their progress in relation to their professional development plan.
    Identify additional training needs and secure support to meet them.
  • Broaden the range of skills and experience on the basis of which they can continue to develop a successful academic and/or administrative career that will support the achievement of their professional goal.
